North Sound BHASO and City of Lynnwood Announce Sea Mar as Provider for Lynnwood Crisis Care Facility

Lynnwood, WA — North Sound Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization (North Sound BHASO) and the City of Lynnwood are proud to announce the selection of Sea Mar Community Health Centers as the official provider for the Lynnwood Crisis Care Facility.

The Lynnwood Crisis Care Facility is a landmark project aimed at addressing the region’s urgent need for accessible behavioral health services. Once operational, the facility will offer around-the-clock behavioral health crisis services to individuals in need, providing a safe, community-based alternative to emergency rooms and jails.

“Sea Mar brings deep expertise, cultural responsiveness, and a commitment to whole-person care that aligns perfectly with our goals for the Lynnwood Crisis Care Facility,” said JanRose Ottaway Martin, Executive Director of North Sound BHASO. “We are confident this partnership will create a place of healing, stability, and dignity for those experiencing behavioral health crises.”

Scheduled to open in January 2026, the facility will provide 24/7 crisis stabilization, mental health and substance use treatment, peer support services, and connections to longer-term care—ensuring people receive the right care at the right time. The facility will start with a 16 recliner 23-hour crisis relief center and open an additional 16-bed crisis stabilization program to allow for longer stays later in 2026.

“The Crisis Care Center will be a vital resource for our community,” said Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell. “We are proud to be partnering with Sea Mar Community Health Centers and North Sound BHASO on this important endeavor to strengthen the continuum of care for our community members experiencing crisis.”

About the Lynnwood Crisis Care Facility
The facility will include:

  • A 16-bed crisis stabilization unit
  • A 16-recliner 23-hour crisis relief unit
  • Psychiatric urgent care
  • Outpatient behavioral heath and care coordination services
  • Substance use disorder treatment and withdrawal management
  • Peer led recovery supports
  • Integration with local public health, housing, and justice systems

The Lynnwood Crisis Center was established following the Lynnwood City Council’s approval of a recommendation to co-locate a crisis stabilization facility at the site of the City’s Community Justice Center (CJC). By integrating these two facilities, the City aims to improve access to care, reduce barriers to essential services, and provide critical support for both community members and individuals in custody. This co-location promotes a healing environment grounded in evidence-based practices and rehabilitation. The full cost of construction was funded through State and County grants, demonstrating strong regional support for this innovative approach to crisis response and behavioral health care.
